Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) has been widely used because of its convenient installation, flexible usage, easy extension, robust optimization in the emergent conditions. WLAN can not only carry out many new application, but also overcome the inconvenience caused by cable limit for solving some specific area distributing cables. At present, the construction of wireless city has been activated in more than ten cities in China. Most people have been using WLAN for work and life.With WLAN technology and network size growing fast today, autonomous WLAN has been unable to cope with management, detection and control a large number of wireless access points (AP).It is a challenge for WLAN management and usage. To solve these problems referred, centralized WLAN network architecture appears and begins to be popular gradually. In centralized WLAN, AP can be managed and controlled centralized by designing AC. Thus AC with the weak AP which can be called by fit AP accomplish all wireless function of WLAN cooperatively.This paper has been researching fit AP system which is centralized WLAN based on CAPWAP protocol. CAPWAP is a protocol of wireless access point control and provision which can make centralized WLAN come true. Then the protocol regulates communication behavior between AP and AC, and provide AP & AC with a general encapsulation and transfering mechanism. Thereinto, AC connecting with the Internet is responsible for configuration, control and management many fit APs intelligently, including distinguishing & security communication, mobile management, radio management etc. The functions of fit AP differed AP in traditional WLAN have been trailed off who is always responsible for receiving control and data information from AC, making mutual communication with wireless terminals in WLAN.Finally, the fit AP system based on CAPWAP make centralized control and manage lots of APs come true, solving configuration, management, security etc. in the large-scale wireless local network by experiment. Meanwhile, the network performance of centralized WLAN, such as network signal intensity, anti-jamming, and throughput rate etc. have also been improved greatly.
