With the rapid development of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technology,WLAN has become increasingly popular in people’s daily life. Now, the scale ofWLAN continuously expands, a large number of wireless access points (AP) is facingthe current situation of difficult to manage, control and extend. How to manage,control and monitor more APs effectively, and to improve the AP’s forwardingperformance become the urgent problems in the development of WLAN.This paper has deeply research Control And Provisioning of Wireless AccessPoints (CAPWAP) protocol based on the centralized WLAN network architecture,mainly researches CAPWAP state machine, frame format and session establishmentprocess between AP and Access Controller; designes architecture of CAPWAP clientsystem, its core module-Wireless Termination Point Daemon(WTPD) and itsexternal interfaces, system state machine and multitask module; combines highreliability and real time characteristics of VxWorks operate system, uses multitaskconcurrent processing mechanism and socket network programming technology torealize CAPWAP client system base on VxWorks; tests the basic system function anduses network testing tool to verify system performance.The system has passed the test, and the functions have been achieved the desiredgoals. Meanwhile, the network signal intensity and throughput rate has also beenimproved greatly. This system is applied to the centralized WLAN architecture,provides efficient and reliable wireless data forwarding service coordinating with AC.
