In recent years, with the development of technology, virtual reality technology, gaining increasingly popular, has aroused extensive attention. Multi-channel three-dimensional real-time generation technology has been widely applied to aerospace, military, communication, entertainment, business and other fields. Multi-channel circular-screen projection system is referring to a multi-channel large screen display system that consists of multiple projectors. Compared with the general standard projection systems, it has such characteristics as a large size, wide field of vision, more contents, high-resolution. It can be used in teaching, video playing, movie playing and so on.270 degrees virtual reality interactive display system with 17 channels (also known as 270 degrees circular-screen projection system), is the core software system of 360 degree virtual experience zone of Guangzhou Case of Expo 2010 Shanghai China. This thesis analyzes the software system to acquire the design ideas of system and system models, and make optimization and improvement of the system models with the more advanced theories, methods and tools, eventually reproduce the improved system and its subsystems. The new developed system can provide some important technical route and implementation for other virtual reality systems by referring to its design methods and ideas.The research work in this thesis includes:(1) A comprehensive analysis of development states of the multi-channel virtual reality technology is done. The studies of basic knowledge of software engineering, virtual reality and multi-channel technology are described in this thesis.(2) Research and analysis of the original system which used in Expo, and the research of the principles of software and hardware of the system and the key technologies of the system, analysis of existing problems in the system. The original system exists problems include, not convenient to maintenance and management because of relatively messy system directory structure; based on modular design so that more redundant files; and so on.(3) The re-constructing of the original system and the reproducing of the virtual simulation subsystem in the new architecture by means of the more prevalent technology. New system and its three-dimensional simulation subsystem are improved largely in as follow aspects:system architecture, modules independence, data synchronization, and so on.(4) Finally, the analysis of the deficiencies in my works, as well as future works for improvement and development.Characteristics of this thesis are as following:(1) It uses a commercial directory structure for deployment of the system file directory, so it can reduce the redundant files in great extent and improve the management functions of the system, it makes system more reliable, more efficient and more easy maintenance;(2) System introduce the Kernel Module and Monitor Module, which are two clear duties modules, and refer to the operating system kernel ideas to design Kernel Module;(3) It is a new attempt for the system to use the COM component as the main real-time data exchange database.
