Visual simulation technology is the main content of Virtual Reality Technology. It aims to provide a virtual environment which has vivid scene, real-time interaction and immersed feeling for the users. Visual simulation technology's high effciency, safety and economic enable it to be used in many fields. Vega Prime is an advanced visual simulation platform. In many areas, the development of visual simulation systems based on Vega Prime is a hot topic. We have long coastline and a number of ports. In this thesis, we apply advanced visual simulaton technology to the simulation of the environment which is made up of ship, ocean and ports. By using Vega Prime, a ship visual simulation system is accomplished. The research has an important meaning for engineering and has practicality in the area of martime analysis, port designing, waterway engineering and seafarers' training, etc. Thesis is organized as follows:In the first part, the overall design of the ship virtual simulation system is accomplished, including the refinement of function modules, the establishment of development plan and the design of development framework. According to the design plan, the key technologies of each module are researched and implemented, including the implementation of basic interactive function which is made up of ship positioning, viewpoint control, path navigation and information display. The construction of model manage method based on XML, the implementation of collision detection and response strategy, the research and implementation of snow effect and ocean effect are also discussed. Running result show that the system is real-time, interactive and has vivid smooth scene.In the second part, in order to obtain better visual effect and immersion, the principle of multi-channel display is studied. By using distributed rendering module provided by Vega Prime, three -channel visual simulation system is implemented.
