In recent years, mass media and rural social development have get academia's attention. Many scholars explored the effect of radio and television on the development of rural social by using the methods of empirical survey on the subject range of Communication, Journalism and Sociology. But we can see that the research based on empirical survey was mechanization and lack of humanistic concern. And it can't reveal the everyday life between rural residents and television in a dynamic state. On the other hand, the theories about the mass media and rural society'change are lack of the necessary depth and breadth. What's more, the negative effects of television and social change are not getting enough attention, lacking of critical theory and the theory of criticism and realistic concern, to improve the research about mass media and rural social transformation. In view of this, this article makes a case as the breakthrough point trying to do a attempt with small see big. Attempted on the basis of focusing on reality, using reference of foreign critical thinkers to re-examine the status of mass media in contemporary China, to think of mass media reflection upon contemporary infidelity.This article described the relationship between television and rural society economic life, social life and political life by using the method of interview and participatory observation. In the aspect of economic life, it mainly described from television'effects on and rural residents'consumption life, it television to city attractive. About social life, it expounded from television to daily life and the television to residents'values; in politics, it's mainly discussed from the television and rural political affiliation which is namely television and rural traditional leaders. And then by the help of further analysis to show that in the country television as an engine of change to promote rural social development and progress, and to find television played a important role in the formation of rural residents consumerism, the steering of rural public space to private space and the formation of democracy relations between family members.Based on this, the article did a further thinking as following:rural society how to show their civilization in urban industrial civilization and the impact of the postmodern civilization; rural residents how to share rural pleasure in the era of universal entertainment; as screen viewers how to transcend the myths which was constructed by television to get detached and freedom?...
