With the development of high-frequency wireless communication systems, microwave filter become a hot spot. For smaller, higher performance and lower cost requirements, as the filter design encountered unprecedented challenges. This paper is based on steeped impedance resonator (SIR) filter theory, designed two compact structure and small size filters. Those are low insertion loss, small size, wide bandwidth characteristics and have a good prospect. In addition this paper, I used planar spiral inductor to instead integrated inductor, and designed a low-pass filter and a high-pass filter. Those have made a good filtering effect, which has a small size, low insertion loss, high stop-band rejection and good performance in high frequency characteristics, can be well applied in communication systems.Chapter 1. Introduces the research background and microwave filter research status. Highlights the miniaturization of microstrip filters the current technical status. From the new packaging technology, new materials, slow loading, small resonators, people have done a lot of research work, but still some problems to be solved.Chapter 2. From the response curve and approximation methods introduce the prototype filter design theory. This is a good theoretical groundwork for following work.Chapter 3. Focuses on the SIR units and research some of the current progress in theoretical and applied to filter design with. Based on it design of the two symmetrical filter. Various parameters can affect the filter simulation were changed to compare the result. From the compared result, I summed up some of these rules to use this structure for the future filter design provides a good reference.
