With the development of computer technology and mobile Internet technology, people have growing demand of real-time location information. Therefore, the location based service technology has developed rapidly, and it is applied in practice. Location based service uses mobile communication network to obtain the user's spatial information, and provides real-time and practical location information to the user through the background processing of geographic information system. The map service system is an important application of location based service, but the research of indoor map service system is still empty. The indoor map service system is used in commercial, exhibition, museum and other large indoor buildings. It provides users with map services such as location information view, name search, location, path navigation and facility search. The focus of this paper is how to design and implement indoor map service system in the ArcGIS platform.This paper first describes the background knowledge of location based service and geographic information system, and then introduces the indoor map service system and the related solutions, and highlights the functions of the browser-based indoor map service system. Paper then describes the overall design of the browser-based indoor map service system, including its system framework, development environment and the implementation of the basic functions, and details on how to resolve the two difficulties of the system design:multi-map structure and cross-map path navigation. Multi-map structure can be resolve by the dynamic loading of the map resources and location point information table; cross-map path navigation can be resolve by location point information table, map connection table and map connectivity matrix. The end of the paper is the testing of the system. It describes the test plan and test program, and analyze and summary the test result.Indoor map service system is now deployed to run, and can provide users various types of map service. The rich features of it and the vast majority of the market demands determine indoor map service system will have huge market potential.
