With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, a large number of value-added services based on wireless networks are appearing. Among them the location service has a broad market prospect for which it meets the instant and local of information access. Because of high efficiency of communication and the characteristic is simple and flexible, indoor location services based on wireless LAN has become a hot research.As important output equipment, the printer has become an indispensable part of office and daily life. However, when the user enters an unfamiliar environment to perform then print operation, he often delays the work just because they do not know where he is and cannot find the nearest printer. So it's a problem to make user find the nearest printer.The goal of this paper is to provide users with integrated platform print services with the access to an unfamiliar environment. This goal requires the user can first locate himself in the LAN environment, after searching the information of status and location in the environment the platform can select the printer from their recent, download and install the printer driver.This paper is based on MS 2005 platform. First, aiming at unifying the different types of printer driven standards, the system develops a common P2P communication protocol to implement the access to information among users, printers and the management server. The second is the positioning of users, it can be divided into offline and online in two stages:in the offline phase, the system zones the environment according the number of walls the signal get through, and then predict the signal strength of the coexistence of the reference point into the database using different model parameters in each sub-regions; in the online phase, the system match the real-time signal and experience database and obtains the location result with a fingerprint method. Finally, this paper designs the database of the print management sever.After testing the system in a lab environment, we can find that the probability of positioning error within 4 meters is 75%, the system can be able to find the exact location of the nearest printer in the environment, to achieve driver downloading and to complete the printing task, and implement the integration of print services.
