Research And Implementation Of Policy Management Service In Heterogeneous Integrated Network Management Platform

With the rapid development of communication technology, the network structure is becoming more complicated and there coexist many communication networks. The traditional network management technology has been unable to meet the increasing needs of the users and the development of diverisfied telecommunications services. In order to eliminate the equipment'heterogeneity of the underlying communication networks and achieve autonomous network management, we introduce Policy-Based Network Management (PBNM) methodology in heterogeneous integrated network management platform.In the PBNM, policy describes the network management rules about a particular configuration of the network resources under certain circumstances. Through the implementation and interaction of policy enforcement point (PEP), policy decision point (PDP) and policy database, PBNM completes the dynamicly monitoring, analysising, controling of the network resources and provides an efficient network management solution. This aricle focuses on the research and design of policy management service in heterogeneous network management platform. At first, it in-depth analysises the shortcomings of traditional network management such as SNMP and TMN, and then makes a detailed study of the PBNM model proposed by IETF. On this basis, it puts forward a hierarchical structure of the policy model, and describes the mapping from high-level policy SLA to policy information model and policy information model to policy data model.Finally, it designes a hierarchical and distributed policy management service platform, and implementes the core modules: intelligent agent, policy server and policy management tool using the J2EE framework, Web Service, LDAP and other technologies.
