Research Of Policy Management Model On SBC

The evolution of mobile core network brings a lot of border issues, in order to keep up the ability of security, configuration and management, it is necessary to introduce the Session Border Controller (SBC). As the access equipment of mobile core network, not only does SBC do the job of NAT traversing, but also should provide the ability of Quality of Service (QoS) assurance, encryption and lawful interception.The traditional network management method based on Client/Server (C/S) architecture can not be applied to large-scale distributed network, while Policy-Based Network Management (PBNM) is a flexible network management method. It will be quite useful to introduce the PBNM method into the management of SBC, so the QoS assurance, encryption and lawful interception can be managed easily. However, most of existing PBNM models are largely defined by the C/S architecture model and the load of PDP is the fatal problem of the whole system. The use of multi-PDP and the introduction of mobile agent technology can solve this problem.Mobile Agent (MA) is a procedure that has certain intelligence and can move autonomously in the heterogeneous network environment. It moves between the various devices under the control of system or itself, then searches for the appropriate resources and processes or uses these resources. At last MA returns the results. After the introduction of MA, the PBNM model is a distributed architecture. MA is responsible for the collection of the PDP load information. PEP communicates with a PDP whose load is the smallest.Policy conflict is an inevitable problem in the field of PBNM and Policy conflict also exists in the management of QoS assurance, encryption and lawful interception. After analysising the policy needs and classifying the policy conflicts of SBC, conflict detection and resolution is suggested not only during the compile-time but also during the run-time.Based on the theory research, this thesis presents the software designment of policy management model and describes the specific details. At last this thesis presents result of test of MA.
