Mobile communication has already become an indispensable part in daily life. Antenna as a key pathway of wireless access system will directly affect quality and capacity of communications. Therefore, the study of base station antenna and terminal antenna is absolutely necessary and significant. Now various kinds of electromagnetic simulation tools are widely used. The study of simulation tools for planar antenna was presented in Many papers. But most of base station antennas are not planar. For better base station antenna design, it has great value to study EM solver simulation quality of this kind of antenna. In this paper, three Electromagnetic simulators HFSS, FEKO and CST MS are applied in dual-band cylinder-shape antenna analysis. The simulation and measured results show that HFSS provides good agreement with the measured return loss, while FEKO presents good agreement with the measured far field gain. The simulated results by using CST MS agree well with the measured results for both return loss and far-field gain.MIMO as a key technology of wireless communication isn't yet commercial. A main reason is the terminal antenna problem. An termimal antenna for MIMO system was designed. Its critical size and performance parameters are deeply studied and analysed. The antenna is compact and its whole size is 16mm×60mm. The simulation results show that it has 627MHz(1909-2636MHz) bandwidth, which contains the UMTS and WLAN band. The degree of the mutual coupling of the diversity antenna is below-15dB in the whole band, and -20dB in most of the band. The antenna radiation patterns shows that the antenna has realized good pattern diversity.
