With the development of society,virtual reality technology is one of the most important technologys which now has made a great impact on peoples life,development and production.It is used widely in military,medical treatment, education,architecture, entertainment and so on,and the home researchers in order to satisfy the urgent need as the trend of contemporary mine informatization,virtual reality technology is being introduced to mines.The 3D virtual mine modeling and simulation technology is the foundational work of the 3D virtual mine system,and is also the key technology of the system.Therefore, based on coal mine of Chensilou, the paper study the 3D virtual mine system modeling and simulation technologies systematically. The research process is divided into four parts, firstly, this paper expounds the definition of virtual reality technology, features and classification, and not only points out the differences and relationships between 3D visualization and virtual reality, but also points out the 3D virtual mine system in this paper belongs to VR system of desktop type; Secondly, by putting forward to the real mine study, objectives of the design, Technical indicators, key technologies used in the system framework of the 3D virtual mine and in the processes of system construction are proposed;Then, introduce the advantages of the 3D virtual modeling software—3DS Max and the modeling methods commonly used, and according to characteristics of 3DS Max to delineate the flow process of virtual model construction,in accordance with focal points in flow processes,key technologies such as building of entity model and optimization in the 3D virtual mine are analysed; Finally, the 3D virtual model built is applied to 3D virtual reality platform VRP to achieve roaming and interactive functions.
