| In the process of economic integration on the global scale, a dramatic increase in information communication has caught the eyes. With the further expansion of modern world system, phenomenal progress has been made in publishing industry. In late 1880s, China has positively plunged into the world copyright business trend. However, there is a substantial deficit of Chinese copyright business according to the data from the State Press and Publication Administration. The data shows the ratios of imported to exported copyright always stay in the range of 4:1 to 8:1. And the ratio rises to 15.43:1 especially in the year of 2003. In order to find a reasonable explanation to resolve this huge deficit problem in China, comprehensive and multi-perspective study has been made by academies. Although, most of them attributing the deficit to the lack of talents, capital and conglomeration, who ignore the complex macro power relationship which behind the copyright trade deficit. Therefore, this paper will put the deficit problem under the current political and economic environment within the modern world system, striving to support the eastern experience to global communication study. The thesis carries out the detailed analysis on how eastern country especially China is positioned or established in the modern world system, illuminating the context of macro political and economic relationship which china faces during the increasing economic globalization. Then, the paper takes the above analysis as a logical basis, discussing the underlying reason to Chinese copyright trade deficit according to the comparative data on Sino-Foreign book trade. Meanwhile, this paper also questions the current'copyright'system by studying its history and impact on trade deficit. After reflecting how copyright system works and spreads in China, a deeper understanding about the relationship between government and political economic environment with copyright deficit will be achieved. |
