Virtual reality is an artificial environment supporting by the computer science, and also a technology making people communicate with computers and extremely complex data. Its military applications are particularly wide, armored vehicle driving simulation system is an armored vehicle kinematic simulation equipment building on the basis of an armored vehicle motion, collection of virtual reality technology, three-dimensional real-time rendering, computer graphics technology, computer interface technology and multimedia and other advanced technologies. Virtual driving system can be"human - vehicle– environment"closed loop system, facilitate for designing the armored vehicles, performance improvements, roads, and driver behavior simulation; use the system to driver training, can reduce pollution and emissions, improve training efficiency. This paper aims at armored vehicle driving simulation system, proposes to base on immersive virtual reality technology via the analysis of system's performance and requirements, the programming language for designing selects quest3D as system development language, graphics engine uses DirectXSDK9.0c, constructs a virtual driving system's overall functional framework and function modules, research on and develop the armored vehicle driving simulation system.First, basing on virtual reality theory, using texture rendering method to process the three dimensional solid modeling of armored vehicles virtual driving training reality system in a virtual scene, planning and design of the three-dimensional driving scene, the object-oriented modeling approach, establishing a virtual drive system for vehicles, pedestrians in the model.Enable the object-oriented modeling approach, based on an armored vehicle virtual driving system model, according to the movement law of armored vehicles, building a virtual control device, using ODE physics simulation engine in Quest3D to establish the armored vehicle kinematic model.Base on the interaction technology of human and computer, using the data glove, with the virtual joystick to control of vehicles moving in the virtual scene. Apply of immersive virtual reality technology to achieve a scene scheduling of virtual driving system. With three-dimensional head mounted display, realized stereo transform algorithm, generated a stereo image. With location tracking devices, successfully developed an active and training type of armored vehicle virtual driving system.
