Analysis On The Foreign Report Strategies Of Xinhua News Agency In China's Booming

The rise of China has made it a significant change in international status with world's spotlight. The voice from China has attracted increasing attention from different countries. It's time for China to rebuild its global image, improve the soft power and eliminate the misunderstanding by proactively communicating with the world.As the national news agency, XINHUA plays a crucial role in forming China's international influence. It opens a window for the world to learn about China through its foreign coverage which has the function of representing China's discourse power and national image in the world.However, XINHUA's foreign coverage still has many problems, which seems very disproportionate with emerging great powers. In response to this situation, this paper is on the basis of text analysis method, combined with the writer's personal practice in Xinhua News Agency, sustaining an in-depth study of XINHUA's foreign report in China's booming from both macroscopic view and Microcosmic angle.The Chapter I Introduction and the Chapter II explained the purpose, significance and background of this study. In Chapter III, problems of foreign coverage are discussed in detail:such as strong sense of publicity, bureaucratic jargon, lack of humane care, lack of objectivity on sensitivity incidents, discourses absence on critical news reports. The fourth chapter gives the detail interpretation for these problems from history and reality angle as well as external factors and internal factors. The fifth chapter puts forward specific ideas and practical improvement strategies, such as changes in ideas, respect for the law of news value, and enhancement of professionalism. The last chapter views a summary for the whole paper, bringing forward some suggestions and improvement methods for XINHUA to promote its foreign report quality and level, and reshape the image of country, then to further enhance China's soft power.
