LED display panel is a kind of modern plane display screen which is composed of Light Emitting Diode matrix modules.Because of its high brightness,long lifetime,strong environment adaptability,LED display panel is used widely in finance,transportation,advertising and so on.As the technology develops, the developmental direction of LED display panel is higher lighteness, full-color, the application of full_color LED display panel becomes more and more bright.The core technique for a LED display panel system is mainly centralized on its controller, the traditional controller generally accomplish display refresh by microprocessor, and realize communication with serial port simply. This kind of controller involves some problems in data processing rate, communication ability. To solve these problems, a LED display panel control system was designed based on former researches, which involves FPGA and computer network technology, this paper has mainly accomplished the research as followongs:(1)Learn the working principle of LED display panel system deeply, and puts forward STM32+FPGA control method, use the ARM Cortex-M3 core chip STM32 as control center, utilize the programmable logic device EP1C6 to refresh display, complete schematic and PCB layout design of this system, accomplish manufacture and debugger of the circuit board.(2)Analyse the characteristic of microprocessor STM32 FSMC bus, develop DM9000A to realize ethernet communication, which provide a new way of communication in LED display panel system.(3)Accomplish software design of this system,which includes three parts:upper computer,microprocessor,FPGA. Complete the transport of uIP on STM32,the drivers of DM9000A,FPGA logic design,applications and so on.(4)To check up the correctness of this LED display panel controller,a full_color LED display panel with 32×32 pixel was designed, which drived by 74HC595 and 74HC138.The scheme was verified in laboratory, and image display on full_color LED display panel was realized, the image is showing clearly, the system is stable and reliable. The controller can support images and animation to display on full-color LED display panel with 256 gray-scale, and can be controlled remotely, is a full-color LED display panel system which is worthy of real application.
