The procurement and storage of grain are important parts during grain distribution, there is a great loss of grain in this process around the world. In China, the loss of grain in storage reaches up to 5%, if only 0.5% of it could be reduced, a lot of funds will be saved. It is also in favor of protecting soil resource, saving water resource and protecting environment. An integrated functional electronic monitoring and controlling system for grain storage is a reliable assurance to the safe of stored grain. Detect the temperature and humidity of various parts of grain bulk accurately, and then get the ecological situation of grain bulk, the quality change of stored grain, the safety situation, the appropriate retention period and other relevant data through the management and analysis software, in order to realize real-time monitoring, grain situation forecasting and machinery equipment controlling. This paper constructs a multi-functional intelligent monitoring and controlling system platform for grain storage which can detect, analyze and control to solve these problems. The main research contents are as follows:1 The local and remote monitoring and management systems for grain storage are established on the Lab VIEW platform, achieve functions as local communication through RS232 serial port, remote communication through GPRS network, real-time data display, data management using SQL Server database, mechanical ventilation control, fault alarm through short message service and communication with the PLC of the controllable temperature and humidity room.2 MATLAB is mix programmed with LabVIEW to set up and solve a mechanism model which can predict the distribution of temperature and moisture content of grain as well as the temperature and humidity of interstitial air in the grain bulk. Realize the combination of real-time monitoring and model forecasting on the monitoring and controlling system platform, and design experiment to verify the effectiveness of the model.3 The ventilation control expert system for grain storage is researched and developed. Temperature, humidity and other parameters in grain barn are detected by the monitoring system. Knowledge base is established according to the ventilation control rules put forward by the grain storage experts, reasoning machine infers and judges, then gets effective and energy-saving ventilation strategies, controls ventilation equipment automatically. The automation of mechanical ventilation is realized preliminary.The monitoring and controlling system for grain storage not only has great value and practical significance for improving monitoring and controlling quality of stored grain in practical grain barn; but also provides a platform for the verification of mass and heat transfer mechanism model for grain storage, is meaningful for transferring the model theory into practice.
