The IP Multimedia Subsystem makes it convenient for the Internet users to apply for the Telecom services, which will greatly enlarge the user group; On the other hand, in the Web 2.0 era, the Internet serves as a platform. Web users are not only consumers of Internet services but also the producers. To achieve convergence, a variety of services architecture and integration methods have emerged. This thesis focuses on the SIP soft terminal design and implementation under the convergent architecture.This paper first introduces the related background. In the relevant technical sections, we introduce the concept of convergent architecture, and then analyze SIP soft terminal and its working principle in detail.Based on the requirements and core functional anaylsis, the paper gives the overall design of the SIP soft terminal in MVC, and then analyze the various modules, each is coveraged in a functional overview, design principles, key issues and the elaboration of implementation. The Manager module is responsible for GUI interaction with the underlying modules in Model, dispatching requests from the GUI and feedback the underlying events of network status. Model contains signaling module, media negotiation module, the media carrying module, encoding and decoding modules, media capture and playback module.Finally, functional testing is executed on the SIP soft terminal, and something in the system need to be improved and perfected next time.
