As the next version of Internet Protocol.IPv6 will ultimately substitute IPv4.The new feature of IPv6 Protocol gives more supports to the applications and improvements of the next generation Internet. It makes Internet of next generation a brilliant future. There is a long way to go to transit from IPV4 to IPV6, that is to say,IPV4 and IPV6 will coexist for a long time.IPv6 is not the simple upgrade of IPv4,they are not compatible because of the differences of the header and the allocation of addresses. It's a critical issue to smoothly transit from IPv4 to IPv6.There is introduction of varies transition methods for different circumstances from IPv4 to IPv6 in this paper. This includes the Double-Stack, Tunnelling and the NAT-PT mechanism. Double-Stack and Tunnelling are easyer to implement, and they are dedicated to some circumstances and mainly for the realization of communications between IPv6 nods in IPv4 network, but they do not support communications between IPv4 and Ipv6 nods. NAPT/PT is designed to handle this issue. Based on seriously study of IPv4/IPv6 and it's upper layer protocol, after thoroughly alanysised varies transition mechanisms and according to current widely used NAPT and SIIT, I finished a translate model based on the translate gateway. Because this will change the IP address and port when doing the translation, the secure measure such as Ipsec can hardly be implemented across the...
