This article describes accurate paging solutions in the background of LAC sharing of GSM and TD-SCDMA. GSM and TD-SCDMA are separately the technical standards of 2G and 3G, which will be of long-term coexistence for the reason of investment protection and network evolution. There are problems such as frequent location update when telecommunications services of 2G/3G network are used simultaneously. These problems will affect quality of services especially in the context of lack of network optimization experience. LAC sharing of TD-SCDMA and GSM will avoid inter-system location updating, decrease time intervals of reselection, increase success rate of location update and improve users' experience of service.This article details the research thought and actual effect of LAC sharing of TD and GSM, analysis problems brought by LAC sharing and give several solutions. TD/GSM LAC sharing will accumulate the paging load of GSM side into TD side, which will trigger increase the paging load of TD largely and influence the paging performance of TD. This problem can be resolved by TD paging ability increasing and solutions of accurate paging, this article give two kinds of accurate paging solutions:Accurate Paging based on the Terminal Abilities and Accurate Paging based on the Access Technology. With the Accurate Paging solutions based on the Terminal Abilities, Core network can obtain users' terminal types and in the procedure of location updating and page users in an appropriate LAC scope. With the Accurate Paging solutions base on the Access Technology, Core network will record users' access technology whenever signaling connections are established between core network and terminals, so users can be paged in an appropriate LAC scope. Two types of access technology recording methods are introduced in this article.
