In the high-speed networks, the traffics have several special features, for example the amount of the traffic is huge, changes are abrupt, features are heterogeneous and dynamic diverse features. The traditional database-based traffic monitoring systems typically are limited in the aspect of the response speed, so it is difficult to be applied to high-speed networks directly.This paper conducts intensive research on related technologies of the real-time traffic monitoring in high-speed network. In order to meet two types of demands, i.e., continuous query and continuous statistical monitoring, researches have been done in terms of high-speed streaming and related storage technologies. This paper aims to find a new method of real-time monitoring for traffic in high-speed network while maintaining ease of use of existing traditional database and integrating with the characteristics of flow databases.After studying various classical database technologies, this paper studies Heap, a memory type engine of MySQL, and uses it to store real-time flow information in high-speed network as a flow database, with which it can meet the requirements of continuous query for monitoring massive flow of information within a short time.Besides, in this paper, based on MySQL, a new Key-Value storage engine is developed, which is able to store and query key-value information and then apply to the transition between IP and location. After further improvements, it can be used for the monitoring of large scale flow information.Based on the research of the real-time traffic monitoring technologies, this paper proposes a new method, which integrates variety methods of storage, on demand to meet the real-time monitoring. This technology also is able to provide researchers with the possibility on the combination of traditional databases and flow databases.
