Libraries And Archives Websites: Comparative Study On Web2.0 Application In China

The theory and technology of Web 2.0 have pervaded various kinds of websites. From the perspective of the development of Internet, it is known that archives websites and library websites, besides providing the users with specific information, will pay more attention to the interaction relationship between users and the websites administrators and the relationship among the users. Therefore, it is worth thinking deeply and researching how to combine the technology of Web 2.0 with the information service of the archives websites in order to make Chinese archives websites further development by learning from the application of Web 2.0 to typical archives websites and library websites in typical countries.Based on the literature research into the concept of Web 2.0, related technologies and the development of the theoretical and practical research, four aspects were done in this research. First, it was studied on the cases of the application of Web 2.0 to the typical archives and library websites in typical countries so as to gain some knowledge about the service function provided by various kinds of Web 2.0 technology and the user interface. Second, the subject of the research is given-the archives and libraries at home and abroad, and does a research on the application of Web 2.0 to the selected archives and library websites. Then 13 research items is determined according to the connotation and denotation of Web 2.0 and the research index of the application of Web 2.0 to the library websites, and the research result is regarded as the basis of this paper. Third, according to the previous research, the application of Web 2.0 was explained to ten selected libraries and archives which is divided into 5 groups including 3 national groups and 2 regional groups. Thus a benchmark was established for the comparative analysis of the Chinese library and archives websites. Then it maked a comparative analysis of the application of Web 2.0 to Chinese library and archives websites and showed their similarities and differences. Finally, on the basis of the above comparative analysis, a conclusion was obtained that there are some problems in the application of Web 2.0 to Chinese archives websites, and then the reasons and advices were given according to the practice.
