In a large base of coal storage, the case of spontaneous combustion of coal piles often have occurred because of long time storage, poor ventilation and other reasons. So temperature monitoring of coal piles is of great significance. So far, there are many ways of coal piles temperature monitoring. Traditional methods is to use the contact temperature sensors to measure the coal pile temperature, which temperature measurement area is small, and work is need to be manually carried out. Besides, because of it is depended on people's work, coal pile would have been affected. In large coal bases, they have large volume of coal piles, and heavy quantity of coal piles, So the traditional measurement methods have been unable to effectively meet with the large-scale coal storage applications. With the development of science and technology, Infrared temperature monitoring technology emerges, the technology is a hot field of temperature monitoring in recent years. With its wide temperature area and convenience to find high temperature area, it has become the field of temperature monitoring of current high-tech.To facilitate the work of the realization of coal pile temperature monitoring, and to let the coal storage base staff know the coal piles temperature changes, this paper designed a coal pile temperature monitoring system. System consists of thermal imager, pan/tilt head, and data transmission equipment and other device. The system design takes it into account that the temperature region, the image frame rate, transmission delay and other necessary performance. Indicators will reflect these indicators to the system design concept, the system to meet the large-scale coal bases in the coal pile storage temperature measurement needs.In summary, the system well positioned to meet the coal pile temperature monitoring requirements, but there are also some shortcomings with thermal imager. This mainly refers to the measurement distance between the thermal imager and coal piles, as thermal imager is as a non-contact temperature instrument. So the temperature measurement accuracy are vulnerable to transmission distance, the impact of atmospheric radiative transfer. According to the theory of thermal imager temperature measurement, the temperature Accuracy also depends on the value of coal emissivity and so on. To make the output of the accuracy of thermal imager temperature monitoring system meet with client needs, we study the factors that affect the accuracy of temperature measurement, temperature correction models are discussed, so that the system has better temperature measurement accuracy.
