Into the twenty-first century, banks have built many information systems in order to meet customer needs. The most important systems are front office trading systems, including deposit and loan system, clearing system, etc. But with the intense competition and the increasing requirement of compliance and operation management, banks have urgent needs to build management information systems, which are mainly analytical systems, and many departments and branches have built different kinds of systems.According the philosophy and planning of the world wide renowned consulting company, bank's management information system will be categorized by subject, including balance sheet management system, risk management system, customer relationship management system, profit contribution analysis system, performance management system and comprehensive reporting system. All these systems will deliver massive information when they put into use, including decision support information, analysis report, and kinds of reports. For instance, taking into account departments and branches, large banks will generate more than 100 million reports each year.Banks have typical problems about construction of these systems and usage of the reports. One problem is that all these systems are not connected, and there is no process to manage and share the information, so that it's very difficult to strength the management effect. The second problem is that the user experience is very bad due to the ignorance of the interaction design of the information, which will weak the system's management effectiveness. The third problem is the weak of access control. Most of these systems can not control each user's authority, which is the death-wound to exercise the management function.How to manage and use these information? It's a challenging task, while it's also the key to win the marketing. It's also the target of this paper.This paper elaborates the three issues and corresponding solutions for the bank's management of operation reports, in order to work out some guidance. According to this target, based on the bank's actual situation, this paper elaborated the major problem about the bank's plan and design of information portal, which is designed as a centralized information portal for users to query and fetch management information and reports, while all backend systems will be integrated. According to the design, management information portal will integrate backend systems and build centralized support system by phases, and deliver integrated, comprehensive, customized and secure information services based on unified user management and access control.This paper proposes detailed solution for problems to manage operation reports, including access control, design pattern of user interaction and attribute system of the bank's operation reports, which are keys to solve the problem.Besides figuring out the problems in bank's information management, this paper also figures out solutions for centralized information management based on portal technology, and proposes for the process and methodology in the management practice. The results are important reference for banks to improve the efficiency to use information and the level of internal management, which helps banks to occupy a favorable position in market competition.Based on the features of bank's internal management information system, this paper outlines the infrastructure of bank's management information system, the problems of information management and use, and the methodology, principal, notes to manage and use these information in a centralized architecture. In addition, this paper also discuss the process and methodology about the development process of such projects, based on the prototype principal, so that the project and proceed smoothly and achieve good practical results.
