Mobile Base Station Drive Test Data Processing Software

As the development of communication technique, wireless network technology is more and more important in our life. According to statistics annunciated by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in January 2011, As to January, the number of national mobile telephone consumers has reached 830 million, and 3G subscribers has reached 47.051 million, which separately increased by 8.1% and 2.8-fold compared to the same period last year. China Mobile, as the largest communication company in domestic, has the largest consumers. So the quality of communication directly influences people's life and society's development, and it is treated as the vitality and competitiveness of the enterprise.Network optimization, as one of a very important work of communication companies, is a difficulty technology, widely reference and high quality personal requirement as well as a long process. As the development of network capacity, the increase of consumer number and update of network equipments, there is much high requirement for network optimization. Nowadays, drive test is treated as the most effective method for network optimization. According to the drive tests, network system could be optimized constantly and operate stably though analyzing the collection data and finding the problems. But As the increase of communication business and complexity for drive test data, mass of drive test data's process and analysis is the main bottleneck for drive data technology.Detail test data content telephone number, dropped number, disconnected number, quality of calls, traffic statistics, receiving level, receiving quality and so on. The purpose of the designed software is processing drive tests'data which are collected by measure equipments though road or fixed call and interference. And it also has good function for data additive, modification, delete, sorting, drawing figure, outputting data, printing and detecting. So network maintenance persons could have visualized perception, quickly find the sections of interference, blind area, covering unreasonable, dropped calls and switching failure, correctly judge the network quality, identify reference problems and get first-hand information. Meanwhile , the software is also helpful for more reasonable and correct work plan for network optimization. As the increase of communication business and complexity for drive test data, limits of China Mobile's network optimization in data processing are apparent. The purpose of this paper is to design a practical data processing software to meet the demand of the corporation.The main contents of this paper as followed:(1) Data processing limitations of China Mobile's drive test system was presented. After searching large number of reports and papers, current situation of drive test data processing at home and abroad was analyzed. aimed to traffic increasing and network optimization data growing of communications company, a software was developed based on Visual Basic6.0 and Microsoft Vista, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 data management system of drive test data processing software development model was introduced.(2) Concepts, principles, contents of the tests, equipment, measurement method, drive test data collection and processing, and data processing basic theory were introduced.(3) Database development and database management systems and other related theories were introduced. Data processing software system structure, Visual Basic 6.0 development tools, Microsoft SQL Server data management system and procedures based on ADO data control methods which associated with the database connection were mainly discussed. The software development tools and basis theoretical were determined.(4)The data processing software development process were introduced in details, including system management, data query, statistics, and playback functions such as implementation and visual interface design. Effectiveness of new drive test data processing software was proved, after comparing with the previous drive test data processing software performance, development costs and other aspects.The data process software has friendly interface and simply operation, which make the consumers learn the condition of wireless signal distribution visually and provide basis for network maintenance persons to detect network failure, analysis frequency plan and network optimization programming. The advantages of new software of drive test data processing as followed: accurate and efficient to analysis and processing vast amounts of drive test data; timely find out network operation problems and adjust relevant parameters until the network achieves to the best running condition. It is valuable to improve the overall strength of the network communications company and the industry level of service.
