The basic goal of the digital library primary is to create a good information environment, and provide for the knowledge organization of the distributed storage information, intelligent access and service through the Internet. Based on the digital library WSMO, the application model given in this paper draws lessons from the grid library resources organization model, and refers to grid technology and WSMO(Web service modeling ontology) in order to store information. Meanwhile it combines creatively the computer grid technology with accuracy retrieval technology, and orders the information efficiently, so as to the user can obtain information without space limitation. Each user with computer terminal has access to the digital information resources of any digital library all over the world at any time and any place only by logging in the related digital library website through the networking. This paper aims to:(1) Explains the grid core project and related concepts of WSMO composition, including grid Globus project introduction, semantic Web system structure, composition of WSMO several content and so on.(2) Introduces the WSMO top-level elements of Ontology layer development tools, especially the WSMO top-level elements Ontology development tools Jena, and explains the Jena framework, Jena application, Jena reasoning, and Jena Ontology API.(3) Answers why choosing between WSMO and OWL - S, introduced in detail the semantic information retrieval tool Protege, the Web services description based on WSMO semantic, and discusses WSMX intermediary device.(4) Put forward the design scheme based on the application of digital library WSMO grid system model. The author introduces in detail the WSMO digital library based on grid architecture models, and describes user layer, grid layer, based on the semantic Web layer and WSMO digital library modules core parts design scheme.
