In the process of color reproduction and the transmission of color information, the information about various colors will go through different input device (scanner), display device (monitor) and output device (printer, press). The obvious fact is that different devices use different materials. They are made according to diverse color-showing principles. And they even have substrate materials with different printability. All these will lead to the fact that the same color will produce different color perceptions in various devices. Sometimes, differences in model number, operating time, preservation and deterioration conditions will also cause different color perceptions of the same color. The objective of color management is to ensure the consistent color perception of the same color on different devices. And we also want to have complete control over the color display on devices to ensure the precise transmission of color information. The ultimate purpose of color management is"what we see is what we get".The foundation of color management is built on a standard profile connection space which is device-independent. This allows people to describe color with an internationally-accepted standard, making the description of color universal. So the main points of the research on printing color management are gamut-mapping for different devices and color space conversion algorithm. In this paper, chapter two described the necessary knowledge about color science for color management; chapter three introduced the standards of International Color Consortium (ICC) which includes the structure of profile and commonly-used rendering intent. Chapter four discussed the gamut mapping algorithm. Chapter five discussed the color space conversion algorithm. We elaborated polynomial regression algorithm and the prism interpolation algorithm. In this paper, we expanded the vertices for prism interpolation algorithm, thereby reducing the amount of work of measuring color patches. And we performed experiments to test the effects of the algorithm and analyzed the experimental data. The application of color space conversion algorithms in the field of color management still could be further advanced.
