Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar is a new technology of active radardetection, and has become a hot research topic. Transmit antennas and receive antennascan be flexibly configured according to system requirements and each transmit antennacan freely choose signal waveform. Compared with traditional radar, MIMO radar haswaveform diversity with more advantages. a number of scholars have been researchingthe applications of MIMO technology in radar system, and obtained some remarkableresults. When orthogonal signals are transmitted in transmitter, spatial transmitted powerdensity is uniform in space, which will result in low probability of intercept (LPI). Wecan utilize the non-correlation of received signals to detect target in time domain as wellas in spatial domain. When correlation signals are transmitted, transmitted energy canbe effectively used, and also can reject interferences and jammers. What's more, whenMIMO radar transmits wide beam and receives using multi-beamforming technology, itis unnecessary to scan the beam. Then pulse number can be accumulated, resulting innarrower doppler resolution. At meanwhile, this will lead extra advantages, such asbetter clutter rejection and higher detection probability of low-speed targets. The concrete contents are as follows:This paper begins with introduction of MIMO radar principles, followed by convexoptimization method to simulate orthogonal and correlation signals, based on these, echo signal model is presented. some basic signal processing algorithms, includingdigital beamforming, pulse compression, MTI, MTD, CFAR and monopulse anglemeasurement are introduced, and An analysis of LPI performance as well as low-speedtarget detection performance are given. Then we introduced the hardware of MIMOradar demonstration system including target simulator, signal processor and PPI monitorbased on ADSP-TS101. Finally, the software design of MIMO radar demonstrationsystem including solutions of data transmission coordinate conversion and the radarimage correctly and tne maintenance of the friendly interface are implemented.
