Recently, the demand for a low-cost low-power wireless comunication system has increased significantly. The wireless sensor networks are a potential wireless network application for future wireless communication system. Wireless sensor networks are an emerging system which can be applications in enviromental monitoring, agricultrue, military, health and securiy. This paper peresents a 2.4GHz low power RF receiver for the wireless sense network in the TSMC technogy. In the application of the wireless sense networks, this receiver uses a low-IF topology for low power consumption. In the first part of paper, it deduces the RF receiver performance specfication according to the application of the wireless sense network and also describes the model specfication such as LNA, Mixer, Filter, PGA, Bandgap, etc. In the second part of this paper discusses the circuit desgin issues and implementations about LNA,Mixer,Filter,PGA,Bandgap and achieves the simultation resluts of the circuit. The 2.4GHz RF receiver chip design issues and layout implementations is described in the third part of the paper. Finally, the testing solution for the 2.4GHz RF receiver chip is provided. The design 2.4GHz RF receiver chip is fabricated in TSMC 0.18um technology. All the receiver building block including LNA, Mixer, Filter and PGA are integrated into a single chip. The system set the 2MHz for the Low IF, and the noise figure of about 21dB is obtained in the signal bandwidth from 1MHz to 3MHz. the adjacent channel (5MHz) rejection of about 30 dB is achieved and the alternate channel(10MHz) rejection is 47dB. The receiver gain control range is 19.8-71.7dB while consume 19mW with the 1.8-V supply. The whole chip occupies a core area of 1.2mm*2mm.
