Research On Router Level Network Topology Discovering Technology

The rapid development of Internet has brought far-reaching impact on the country's political, economic and people's lifestyles. Computer network has been applied to all realms. Successful management of the network, improvement of network performance and service quality, safety and reliability of information transmission have become increasingly important. A good network management system should master the managed network topology. Therefore, network topology discovery is the foundation of network management technology , how to discover network topology more accurate and complete is very important for network management.This thesis discusses and researches the network topology discovery techniques from the following aspects.1,A router-level network topology discovery technique is analysed. The thesis considers the infulence of firewall, routing swing and other issues for detection results, improves the discovery methods from integrity and accuracy, and proposes a improved Ping, Traceoute method for network topology discovery. By using CAIDA measurement data, the test results show that the improved method is better than other methods on completeness and accuracy.2,A router alias resolution technique on the router-level topology discovery is studied. The thesis analyses the accuracy, completeness and efficiency of the router alias resolution, and presents a improved methods based on active detecting. On the simulating environment, the test results show that this method is useful for alias resolution.3,A router-level topology discovery prototype system based on the above methods is designed and implemented. The thesis optimizes the system from load balancing, reduce redundancy detection, detecting point selection and data updating. The test results show the validity of the system on the Internet test.
