Enhanced Camera Based On Maemo Mobile Internet Terminal

Since 21^st century, digital technology has been developing rapidly. The cost of digital products has reduced a lot. The Public is becoming more and more familiar with digital products. In the recent two years, the technology of mobile terminal camera is developing rapidly; mobile terminal camera is becoming better and more high-pixel. Gradutly, the Public wish the mobile terminal camera could supply richer and more wonderful experiences. To achive that, we can apply the context-awere computing technology to the mobile terminal camera, that is the―context-ware‖trend. As the network's developing, how to extend mobile terminal camera to Intenet becomes another important trend, we can call it―networking‖.This paper will introduce an enhanced mobile terminal camera which is an exploration of―context-ware‖and―networking‖mobile terminal camera, based on Maemo platform. Applying context-aware technology to it, the mobile terminal camera will be able to obtain the context information around it. This imfomation would help the users to classify the large quantities of messy photos. This imfomation would be attached to the photos in the form of annotations,that would be helpful for making the photos into videos, storing, reviewing and sharing on the Internet and so on.To achive the application goals listed above, this enhanced mobile terminal camera should be able to obtain context information including GPS information of the location where the photo is taken, the time when the photo is taken, the subject of the photo taking activity, other information about the user and so on. The context information would be uploaded to the server together with the according photo. With the help of the context information, users can classify the photos easily and make the photos into videos on the server and so on.This enhanced mobile terminal camera is based on context aware computing theory. So, this paper will give an introduction to the theory and concepts about context aware computing, including definitions and theory of context, context-awareness, context aware computing and context aware system. In the following, this paper makes an introduction to the related techniques and platforms and then makes an introduction to the key details of design and implement of the enhanced mobile terminal camera. And also, this paper will also introduce the main application scences and the actual application of this context aware enhanced mobile terminal camera with its network server.At last, this paper summarizes the current work and future improving directions.
