Service Discovery Based On Maemo Moile Terminal

In our real life, with the rapid development of mobile technology, the functions of thehandheld devices become more and more powerful, such as the growing popularity ofSmartphones. Service providers of the mobile communications launched wireless network,makes more easily able to access the network resources. Therefore, there is growing concernabout the application service based on mobile terminal, and in the 3G era, the servicediscovery application to mobile devices in a network service resources will become anindispensable function modules.The Service Discovery is also known as service location in the traditional network. Alarge number of service discovery related technologies have been demonstrated, what's more,the application of some service discovery protocol gained great success. In recent years, withthe rapid development of mobile communication and wireless technology, mobile servicediscovery protocol becomes a hot problem. However, with real mobile devices, there is stillrarely to build and research service discovery system over the wireless network. Based on theresearch service discovery protocol, with Maemo mobile platform and multi-servicediscovery protocol in the network, this paper designed and implemented the mixed servicesystems which support both UPnP and SLP service discovery protocol, and also built anexperimental environment for validation.This paper analyzed the basic of working principle and process about that protocols, andsuccessfully transplanted the two protocols into the Maemo platform. According to therealization of the mixed service discovery in the Mobile terminal platform, some research anddevelopment in the paper is based on the Maemo, and the UPnP and SLP are chosen as theService Discovery Protocol. This paper used the Qt development tools to achieve the servicediscovery system. Therefore, this paper has some reference value related to the wirelessdevices accessing the services network such as UPnP and SLP.
