Design Of Individual Soldier's Terminal Handheld Device

With great development of information technology and computer science, PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) have been brought into every aspect of our lives, and play important role in many fields, such as mobile communication consumer electronics and information collection, ete. Therefore, the stability of handheld devices, real-time and endurance capacity is the key issue of handheld devices. These issues have gradually become the field of handheld device meaningful research direction.Modern warfare is information technology and electronic era, feature-rich, compact and practical handheld smart devices (military PDA) have been appreciated increasingly by military. In this paper, the stability, real-time and endurance capacity of handheld device is key points. We describe system design and implementation of the embedded handheld terminal device which use in the combat to enhance capability of troops. The terminal system is portable and mainly designs for the individual or troop commanders. It is not only capable of locating and navigating, but also providing thereal-time situations of being in a battlefield. According to the situations of the battle field, which the system provides, commanders are able to analyze the conditions of combat zone in order to bring up the most suitable plan for the specific situation. Such terminal system is one of the most important apparatuses for our armed forces to achieve the goal of being informational success.The thesis mainly focuses on the kernel customization of Linux operating system, the design of hardware circuit for the portable terminal system. First of all, we briefly discuss the structures of the terminal system and the necessities of its function. And then we lay out the plan of how we realize them. The hardware of terminal system consist of an general 32 bits embedded microprocessor, and other peripheral apparatuses such as camera, UART, serial port, GPRS and GPS.
