With the rapid development of science and technology, especially the miniature electronicproduce equipment appeared along with large scale integrated circuit, which make thedevelopment of modern science and technology have a qualitative leap. And the appearance ofthe embedded microcontroller processor technology has brought a new technology revolution tothe modern industry. The most outstanding advantage of system which is composed ofembedded microcontroller controller can be embedded into any equipment that small orminiature.Fault diagnosis system mainly consists of two parts which are hardware and software. Thehardware core part of this experiment system is YLP2440development board whichmanufacture by YOULONG Company. And the microprocessor whose model is S3C2440is lowpower consumption, high level of integration of the microprocessor which is based on theARM920T kernel. The embedded operating system Linux is the core of this experiment. It is cutbased on the Linux, and this clipping make it can run in embedded equipment. Meanwhile, theembedded Linux operating system have many advantages like easy to transplant the software,open source code, and supported by many application software program.This paper proposed an overall design scheme of embedded fault diagnosis system based onS3C2440, which include setting up of the system hardware platform, transplantation ofembedded Linux operating system, establishment of cross-compiling environment, and theestablishment of the embedded software development platform. In the part of embedded systemhardware environment, this paper mainly introduced the structure of experiment developmentboard, and the structure characteristics and function of ARM9processor. In the part of embeddedsoftware development platform, firstly, this paper analyzes the characteristics and application ofthe embedded Linux. Then, this paper introduces how to configure, compile and transplant theroot file system (and present a new method of improved Cramfs file system). Finally, this paperdescribes the development process of Linux kernel and device driver in the embedded system.Finally, we give a test of experiment development results which are analyzed and concluded.Experiments show that the improved Cramfs file system described by this paper is effective andreliable.
