Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) technology promotes the development of next-generation intelligent optical networks, and creates the conditions for evolution from traditional transmission network to services networks. Multi-services-driven has become communications network trends. Because of the characteristics of multi-technical, hierarchical sub-domains and large-capacity transmission in communication network, network survivability especially the multi-layer network survivability becomes the key technologies for continuous development. Therefore, research on multi-layer network survivability under services-oriented circumstance has been concerned increasingly. The multi-layer network survivability technology under services-oriented circumstance is not the simply stack getting each layer survivability together, but need to consider architecture of multi-layer network, how to realize multi-layer survivability configuration, how to increase the sharing feature of backup resources among different layer for decreasing resource cost in requirement of network survivability, which are the key problems in services-oriented IP over WDM multi-layer network survivability.In this paper, according to the intelligent, services-oriented features of multi-layer network based on ASON, the survivability mechanism of services-oriented IP over WDM multi-layer network have be researched. The paper key to research on the architecture extension of services-oriented multi-layer, the provision mechanism of differential multi-layer survivability and backup resource allocation between the two layers under differential multi-layer circumstance. Major work is divided into the following sections:(1) The development process of network architecture evolution has been studied. Through introducing service plane based on original ASON framework, the functional architecture of ASON is extended. Thus the architecture feature of services-oriented multi-layer network is determined. And finally, operational sequence which service flow in real network through service plane and control plane are illustrated(2) The paper focuses on characteristics of multi-layer network survivability mechanism, and completes the design to realize multi-layer network survivability based on differential service according to the different reliability requirements and network resource condition as well as the index of different services. Namely, on the basis of different services, different routing configuration scheme has been implemented.(3) As load balancing can achieve optimal characteristics of network resources, the paper presents a scheme for inter-layer resource allocation in dynamic multi-layer network survivability, which is based on the differential survivability routing algorithm. Through change the design of link weight, make the network resources load balance. Simulation result shows this algorithm not only efficiently satisfies the user-specific requirement, but also effectively decreases the network-blocking ratio.
