Survivability is the key technology in intelligent optical network. In Multi domain andmulti layer network environment, survivability issue has become more complex due to thecoordination mechanism between different layers, constraints of multi domain topology, andinvisible routing information, etc. This thesis presents a comprehensive and in depth research on thekey technologies of survivability in multi domain and multi layer optical network via theoreticalanalysis and simulations. The thesis first introduces some fundamental principles of survivability in optical networks, and highlights some key technologies of survivability issues in multi domain and multi layeroptical network. For multi layer survivability issues, it analyzes and discusses independent andintegrated recovery strategy; for multi domain survivability issues, it proposes an improved idea ofaggregating the multi domain optical networks into logical topology. On this basis, an intra domainpre computed dynamic protection scheme and inter domain static M: 1 protection strategy ispresented. An improved Minimum Cost Traffic Engineering (MC TE) routing algorithm is proposedwhich considers load balance on the basis of shortest path and improves the load balance of thenetwork. Based on MC TE algorithm, this thesis presented a dynamic protection mechanism whichimproves resource utilization efficiency. Finally, a simulation platform based on OMNET++ tools isintroduced and algorithm performance analysis is presented.
