Mechanical products require effective management of the spare parts in the production process. In order to identify products timely and accurately, clearly mark signs need to be marked on the products. Traditional industrial marking methods are of low efficiency, not pleasing to the eye, poor stability, high rejection rate, thus they are not suitable for modern assembly line operations occasions. The use of modern emerging laser marking method is restricted, because it's high price and expensive system maintenance. With the progress of modern technology and development of embedded system, the present situation of existing marking technology, developing trends and existing problems are analyzed. And then one kind of embedded microprocessor-controlled pneumatic marking program is proposed, a marking system of small volume, low cost, flexible and convenient in use is developed.The marker studied in this paper, mainly edits the graphs and characters to be printed through the upper computer, then pass them through the serial port to the lower computer controlled by ARM920T, to control the stepping motor motion to complete the marking movement. The research work on the entire marking system is carried on, a design program based on the embedded system is proposed, the design of mechanical part and the software and hardware of control part are realized. The controller and the driver are integrated to become control and drive apparatus, which is mainly comprised of the master control module, solenoid valve control circuit, motor drive circuit, communication circuits, power supply etc. the hardware resources are made full use of. The acquisition of character trajectory and interpolation algorithm are the key points to software design. A new kind of straight line and circular arc interpolation algorithm is applied in the embedded software in this paper. The speed and accuracy of interpolation are improved, the interpolation of characters and graphs is realized. And the design and transformation of characters and graphs to be printed are studied, thus geometric information is able to be extracted from the files and is transformed into print command. In order to enable the system to operate stably in complex industrial environments, anti-jamming measures such as optical isolation also are applied.The pneumatic marker studied in this paper has the merits of steady operation, high printing efficiency, high precision, etc. It can be seen as a basement for developing the next generation of industrial pneumatic marker. It has great significance and widespread application in the future.
