Radio frequency identification (Radio Frequency Identification, RFID) is a communications technology. It can identify a specific target and can be read or written data by radio signals. Radio frequency identification technology with high efficient, non-contact, non-polluting, high recognition rate and other prominent advantages compared with other identification technologies. Therefore, it is significant in doing RFID technology research, development and application.This paper analyzes the status of current radio frequency smart card and the reader R&D. It selects the Philips Mifare1S50 RF smart card. Meanwhile, it researches and develops matched radio frequency reader system based on the C8051F301 8 bit MCU of Silicon Labs. The main contents and results are summarized as follows:(1) This paper analyzes and summarizes the literature of RFID technology, the overall system is designed based on the analyzing main points of RFID technology and the development status at home and abroad.(2) It designs and makes the hardware system of the C8051F301-based RF reader, including the C8051F301 and MFRC522 peripheral circuit design .On this basis, it also designs the PCB layout.(3) On the basis of the hardware design, it completes system software design, including system firmware, host computer program design and implementation. System firmware includes MCU program and functions of communication with the RFID card, the PC program is mainly the function calls for user interface.(4) In order to verify the overall system performance and practical application of developed RF reader, this paper further increase the LCD and keyboard modules and apply the system to the non-contact IC card vending machine controller. It achieves good results.Paper topic promotes the application range of the C8051F301 8 bit MCU in other industries to some extent, provides a reference to the development of related applications for the RFID, and plays a role in modest promoting the domestic level of embedded technology R & D and application.
