After the reform and opening up, China's private-owned publishing industry has been growing rapidly. Over the past 30 years of developing, the private-owned publishing has become an important role in Chinese publishing industry. Publishing biasness in Hunan province, which features abundant of cultural heritage, has become the backbone of its cultural industry, and Hunan's private publish industry can not be underestimated. Hunan private-owned publishing industry experienced its golden age in the ninety-ninety last century. In the 21st century, Hunan private-owned publish industry has increased remarkably both in the size and number, but overall speaking, there is still a gap fall behind comparing to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and other developed areas. With the fierce competition in market, which path should be taken for the Hunan private-owned publishing industry?Based on the previous studies and with the method of literature review, comprehensive analysis and case studies, this paper attempts to find an ideal path for the development of private book industry in Hunan. And it analyzes the development of Hunan private book industry's background and analyzes the status of nowadays Hunan private-owned book industry's carrying-out, the policy, the enterprises, the management system, personnel system, product positioning and other aspects, pointing out the characteristics and shortcomings existing in the industry. On this basis, the paper makes a forecast for the development trend of Hunan private book industry in the future, that is the development for Hunan private-owned publishing industry should go from"market"to"enterprise"; start joint business ; gradually stock restructure; trend to Electronic and Network Management. In addition, this paper suggests some strategies and measures targeting at the trends mentioned before : strengthening infrastructure construction, build a good market system; establish a modern enterprise system, the introduction of advanced personnel system; multi-pronged approach, the establishment of pluralistic financing system; continue brand innovation, and expand the brand effect; establish credibility and build a good image in society; to strengthen networking, digital construction, real integration into the information technology wave and etc. These measures can not only help to overcome the bottleneck of the development of private-owned publishing industry, but also cater to the future trends, benefit to the long-term development. Finally, the thesis takes a Hunan private-owned publishing company as an typical case to study, trying to explore the way out for development path of the whole Hunan private-owned publishing industry.
