SQL Server CE Research In Mobile Electronic Commerce

Mobile applications can be divided into two classes:one is based on mobile database and another id not. The mobile applications with no mobile database usually employ B/S mode which is based on browser. These applications don't need the high performance of mobile terminal and is easy to the deployment. The applications with mobile database usually employ C/S mode, which is based on window form. They need mobile terminals with high performance, but they can provide rich interface, data storage and data management capability.Nowadays, the performance of mobile terminals (mainly cell phones) has been greatly improved. Smart phones, which have separate operating systems to support user-setup programs, are popular rapidly. They have increasingly powerful processors and storage devices. On the other hand, the theory about mobile database has matured and the related products have launched. SQL Server CE is a typical representative.This paper investigated a mobile e-commerce application based on SQL Server CE, which is a mobile e-commerce platform laid on the mobile terminal. This platform and the e-commerce management system on the server side constitute a unified architecture.First, this paper studied the mobile database SQL Server CE's features and synchronization technology, focusing on the remote data access-RDA.Then, combining the functional requirements of the mobile e-commerce platform and the need of the manage system in the server side, this paper analyzed the security and synchronization problem with the introduction of SQL Server CE, and proposed the solution strategy.Finally, the paper realized the mobile e-commerce platform, according to the proposed solution strategy. SQL Server CE based on the mobile terminal applied RDA function to communicate with the SQL Server by Web Service, in order to ensure data consistency. The platform employed.NET Compact Framework and completed two major functions for shopping and business managing.In summary, this paper introduced SQL Server CE into mobile e-commerce, which extended the application range of mobile database. The mobile application completed in this subject exploited computation and storage capacity of mobile terminal, and provided the capability of managing data. It is an active exploration of mobile database application.
