The large format scanner is designed to meet the demands of big width data collection, and it also needs to be possessed with great resolution. In this case, the amount of data collected by the scanner will increase by several times, and it also becomes complicated to control several CCD to work synchronously. So it has grown to be the key to the research of large format scanner that how to design data transmission system, which can help the scanner to work quickly and efficiently.Linux 2.6 kernel, which has better real-time quality, is used in the thesis. For the startup process of Linux operating system analysed, the embedded Linux operating system for X86 architecture CPU is built as the operating platform for the embedded mainboard which is used in multi-CCD scanner. Based on this embedded system, the multi-CCD scanner data transmission system is built, and according to the character of data transmission of the multi-CCD scanner, protocol RUDP is chosen for it can make the data transmission quick and correct. The data transmission system has been verified in several tests that it can be used on two-layer controller multi-CCD scanner successfully. Finally the several CCD can work synchronously and the problems about the image mosaics, image cutting, image data transmission and the image horizontal dislocation have been solved.
