Scheduling algorithm is to solve the problems of how to allocate resources based on packet data transmission and how to determine a service order while users competing for system resources. It is a core technology of radio resource management (RRM) which affects the whole system performance. This paper studies the scheduling algorithm based on the LTE system and LTE-Advanced system, and seeks to optimize the use of the limited system resources.First of all, this paper researches on the single-cell scheduling algorithm. In this part, it first gives an analysis and comparison of three classical scheduling algorithms, and gets the result that proportional fair scheduling algorithm can only provide users with limited fairness while the channel is changing. To solve this problem, an adaptive proportional fair scheduling algorithm for LTE system is proposed which can adjust the scheduling priority according to individual user's channel condition. It greatly enhances the throughput of users with poor channel conditions, and improves the system fairness.Secondly, multi-cell scheduling algorithms for CoMP were studied. After a brief introduction of several CoMP resource scheduling methods, this paper proposed two improved schemes based on joint proportional fair scheduling algorithm (JPF). The first scheme aims to enhance the flexibility of scheduling, and the second scheme aims to enhance the scheduling opportunities for cell-edge users. The simulation results show the validity.
