This paper is dedicated to design and realize a set of intelligent transit dispatching system based on GIS/GPS/GPRS.Firstly, combined with the status and needs of intelligent public transport systems in China, the paper analysed the main features of the system and completed the design of the system framework and system database;Secondly, using GPS global positioning technology, GPRS mobile communicati- ons technology, GIS for information processing and computer network communication and data processing technologies, on the basis of the existing GPRS communication system, the paper programming realized a client program for GPS vehicle data analysis and vehicle displays in GIS, and on this basis, made a graphical line real time monitoring of vehicles.Thirdly, on the basis of accurate vehicle data resolution and vehicle real-time monitor, through an in-depth analysis of intelligent bus dispatch system and scheduling features, the paper made an effective integration of dynamic traffic information and vehicle location information, introduced intelligent algorithms to public transport operation and dispatching, and finally programming realized the function of intelligent public transport dispatching.Through the actual running of tour 1 line in a city, the system was shown to meet the actual scheduling demand of bus line very well. Through the use of this dispatch system, scheduling efficiency of the bus line has been greatly improved, which ease the burden of dispatchers and provides a more convenient public transportation for passengers.
