In today's high-speed electronics and communication systems, jitter has become an important factor to obstruct the improvement of system's performance. At the same time, in order to ensure the performance of the system, decomposition and analysis of jitter have also become a necessary procedure. Decomposition and analysis of jitter is becoming a hot research topic. Most of today's measuring instruments decompose and analyze jitter from continuous sampling data, which demand a high level hardware platform. This topic made a research on how to decompose and analyze jitter by using discrete sampling data. Firstly, the article gave an outline of jitter measurement techniques. Then the article gave the causes of the jitter components and measures to eliminate, on the basis of a detail analysis of their mathematical models and measurement methods. Next, based on data collected from discrete sampling hardware platform, the article decompose the jitter in clock signal and random data signal from statistical domain, and summed up effective algorithms to decompose jitter, which have been simulated and verified in MATLAB software, and the results are good.
