Wireless sensor network (WSN) has been developing rapidly and become the international hot issue since 90s, which is widely used in many fields like environmental monitoring, target tracking, health monitoring and military. With the development of research, as the key technology in the security of WSN, how to design a security routing protocol become a research hotspot.Based on the deep study of the architecture and characteristic of the wireless sensor network, we found the multipath routing this paper has more advantages in ensuring the reliability of data transmission, balancing the energy consumption, solving the transmission fault, and satisfing the network Quality of Service (QoS) compared with the single path routing. Inspired by this, this paper proposed a multi-path routing protocol based on credible cluster heads for wireless sensor networks(MRBCH), which combines the multipath with other security mechanism, and realizes the security of routing effectively. The algorithm mainly includes three parts:the trust model, the clustering algorithm and the calculation of the routing path number.MRBCH combines the multipath with trust mechanism. The trust mechanism describe the direct trust value of nodes with the factor of the rate of forward packets successfully and the rate of packet retransmission by the probability formula. And introduce the time factor into the formula. We get the trust value from the direct and indirect trust using the weighted average method, and use the nodes' trust value for selecting the next hop in multipath to guarantee the routing reliability and security. And we design the routing protocol considering both the security and energy-saving in MRBCH. The algorithm bring effective clustering algorithm into trust mechanism, evaluating the trust value not on each node in WSN, but the key nodes-cluster head nodes. The trust value is created and exchanged among the cluster heads only. So in the environment with malicious nodes, we can balance the energy consumption and routing safety.MRBCH achieves safe routing not only by using the nodes'trust value to select the next hop, but also by the number of routing paths. We studied and improved the computation method in ReInForm algorithm, and calculated the path number with the trust value. MRBCH turns the guaranty for routing reliability to the safety of the routing. And as a result, the safety has been strengthened, and the safety of system requirements has been satisfied. Finally, we simulated the proposed multipath routing algorithm on OMNET++ simulators. The simulation results show that the new algorithm performances well in balancing energy consumption, ensuring the routing safety, and prolonging the network survival time when there are malicious nodes in WSN.
