Three-dimensional display, the development direction of display technology in the future, is the cutting-edge technology of display. It has broad application in many areas. Besides stereoscopic and holographic display, volumetric display is another three-dimensional display that could display 3D graph in the real space with physical scene depth, which is the outstanding advantage compared to the other two method. This paper first reviewed researches on volumetric display both domestic and abroad. With analysis of the difficult and problem existing in translational scanning volumetric display, the significance of the research of this paper is cleared. A high-resolution volumetric display base on translational scanning is proposed in this paper. And then the paper described the system's overall composition and the relationship between the subsystems. The key subsystems are described in detail in different chapters. Finally, the main parameters of the physical prototype and experimental results were showed and some recommendations for further research were made. This paper successfully made a physical prototype that achieved the expected target. No dead zone existed in the display area and the brightness of 3D graph was uniform while the distribution and size of voxel were same in the display space. The prototype solved the vibration and noise problems and achieved display of high-resolution 3D graph containing up to 512 slices of 2D graph and including more than 400 million voxels. The main work of the paper includes:design of the high-speed image projection system using FPGA, design of image matching module and design, manufacture, assembly, debugging of the prototype.
