Currently, wheelchair manufacturers face the globalization of markets, international manufacturing, diversification of demand,high quality products and services, and the new challenges.There is no domestic enterprises to form for intelligent design system of wheelchair, and only stay in the use of large CAD software to design. All of the three-dimensional CAD software's assembly functions were defined in part rely on the assembly relations between the geometric constraints to complete, the assembly efficiency is very low, and the product design and development cycle are greatly restricted. Therefore,how to make the computer assemble automatically which can improve the design efficiency has become one of the issues to be resolved.From the recent development of the current situation of wheelchair, the market has been dominated by a single performance, narrow scope of application, fewer species, and lack of innovation and other issues. With user's requirements increase, more and more enterprises attach importance to the personality and humanity wheelchair design, wheelchair with new features in the future will be more prominent. It will be emphasized in the meeting of highlighted variety of personalized features, which make people, machine and environment fully integrated. In order to do this, you need to develop a parametric design system of wheelchair, which can be better to serve manufacturers and users.One part of the paper is structure design of the wheelchair according to the ergonomic. the seat, wheels, handrails and other personal accessories were designed according to biomechanical structure against the impact of the wheelchair. This personalized accessories designed for the disabled wheelchair fully conside the practicality of factors, the user can select their own preferences and requirements, which pressed more personalized features of a wheelchair.The paramete design system of the wheelchair is completed in a conceptual design system based on the secondary development of Pro/E, together with pre-wheelchair concept design system constitute of the parametric design system. This system includes: three-dimensional modeling of basic parts based on ergonomics, personalized wheelchair features such as automated assembly to build a wheelchair intelligent systems, improving the design efficiency and quality greatly. but also for wheelchairs manufacturers provide a whole range of design convenience.In this system, automatic assemble depended on coordinate system between the wheelchair's body and individuated accessory is accomplished based on the PRO/TOOLKIT of Pro/Engeneer and MFC. Automatic assembly Technology of Secondary Development and friendly user interface are used in the individualized wheelchair system, this assembly is to achieve a parametric design, and to meet the different needs of wheelchair users. The technology has some commonalities in other areas. It will provide a good reference in automated assembly systems for other development.The last part of this paper is body measurements and analysis of work space design based on physiological characteristics, It use CATIA software to create a virtual simulation environment and the human factors analysis of a wheelchair, and further optimize the design to make users to get the best the stability and comfort.
