With automatic advance of the modern logistics system and self-protection awareness of enterprises, barcode as an important role of modern enterprise management, provides high-efficient information-based management and has been widely used. At present, the research into high-speed barcode printer used on assembly line has been a trend. This paper analyses the developing actuality and evolving tendency of barcode system in home and aboard, simply introduces the bar code printing method, and puts an emphasis on the inkjet technology and its application in barcode printing. The design chooses a kind of print head produced in XAAR Company which works in dropping on demand manner, gets FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) chip through specification bus protocol, designs and drives the kind of print head of the high resolution ink jet printer. Then the paper has completed implementation of hardware of the high-speed inkjet printer, which is based on the FPGA of Altera's EP2C8 series as the main processor chip. About the design of specification protocol, Protocol Project is adopted which is based on Petri net. According to the data type and the way of print head operation, a kind of protocol has been defined, though which kinds of data package can be transmitted at the same time. Based on the protocol a colored Petri net model was made and then simulated on the CPN tools which a software used for analyzing CPN model. The design chooses FPGA inner RAM as data buffer. While printing the data are read out from the buffer, written into the register in some kind of sequence, and finally driven by the fire signal to accomplish printing. The paper has given the design ways and procedures of each module and the map of state changing. At last some barcode sample of the inkjet printer was given.
