Inkjet printing technology is a high-quality image output technology whichdevelops at a high speed. It plays a significant role in the field of non-connectprinting technology. According to the technical requirement of the specifichigh–speed inkjet printer and technical features of piezoelectric nozzles, a newcontrol design of nozzles’driving is proposed in this paper.Analyzing the structure, control signal and timing relationship of a kind ofpiezoelectric nozzle, this paper proposes a new organization of the nozzle in order tosupport scalability and rapid updating of data variable region. In addition, the overalldesign and each functional module of this special high-speed inkjet printer arediscussed.In the part of the hardware design and realization of driving circuit, the standardof RS-422serial bus is adopted aiming to improve the stability of data transmission.Then this paper presents a data transmission scheme of time division multiplexing,which enhances the utilization and maintenance of transmission cable, reduces thecost of system. Taking Altera company’Clyone series FPGA EP1C6Q240C8andAD5424as the core chip, the high-speed control timing of four nozzles is realized. Itmakes the system is smaller and more reliable.In the part of the FPGA internal logic implementation, this paper uses the top-downdesign method. Using asynchronous FIFO we well resolve the problem of thetime-divided transmission between different clock domains. The data organizationand print timing control of four nozzles are also achieved, which make use of thereference signal consisting of the same clock of different phase and a plurality ofcounter. For the purpose of color consistency, the waveform selection function isimplemented.The hardware and software debugging results of the special high-speed inkjetprinter shows that: the designed driving circuit of the nozzle can work stably, andmeet the design requirements.
