AIR-based Time Management Software Design And Implementation

In the fast-paced modern society, people always feel lack of time, so the importance of time management is more and more recognized. GTD (Getting Things Done) is an advanced time management theory and method. With the idea of GTD, time management can be more. efficient. However, current GTD-based time management tools have many shortcomings. They are not able to satisfy the needs of users, but even give users terrible experience. Hence, it is necessary to design and develop software which cannot only meet the time management needs of users, but also provide them better user experience.RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) combine the strong flexibility of traditional Web applications with the strong interactivity of traditional desktop applications, and have the ability to build rich user experience. Flex framework-based AIR is the RIA runtime environment deployed in desktop systems. It provides rich interaction ways, as well as supports flexible access of local storage system and file system. In addition, the efficient development process of AIR applications and the high penetration of AIR runtime environment are both the important reasons for being chosen.Based on the analysis of the time management theories and methods, an informalizable simplified model of GTD is built, and is divided into several functional modules, each of whose prototype design is completed. Based on the research on the AIR related technology and its development process, through the elaboration of Flex's event mechanism and Flex-JavaEE communication methods, the feasibility of AIR-based online time management software's design and implementation are demonstrated, which provide the supports for the later concrete implementation. Based on the discussion of the concrete process, the best practice of AIR-based RIA's design and implementation is built, and several advices on better user experience design and their concrete implementation process are proposed.
